A collaborative short documentary produced for SoundCloud’s 'First on SoundCloud' series.

Our team travelled to Vancouver to profile EKKSTACY, an artist who fuses punk, emo, folk and rock textures into a distinct indie voice. The intent from the start was to let the artist lead. No heavy-handed narrative. No performance for the camera. A minimal crew, organic interactions, and locations that belonged to him. Skate sessions, studio takes, conversations with the people closest to his world. We stripped the film to black and white, not as an aesthetic choice for its own sake, but to remove distraction and push the emotional weight forward. High-contrast lighting, tight close-ups, and handheld movement gave the film its texture: intimate, unguarded, present.

The film interweaves the candid against the composed, quiet moments of community alongside sequences that sit with the harder realities. His demons, his music, his relationships, the turning points that shaped who he is as an artist. The result is a character study that earns its access.
